Unlocking Your WomanCode

WomanCode, by Alisa Vitti, opens with some unsettling statements and statistics.

There is a silent epidemic happening to women everywhere: hormonal balance is being destroyed. Over twenty million of us suffer from polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), fibroids, endometriosis, painful/difficulty/heavy periods, and thyroid and adrenal issues. One in ten couples is infertile, and hysterectomies are still the number-one surgery performed on women (pg. 1).

Let that sink in for a moment. If you are one of the few who hasn’t experienced any of the conditions listed above, what about this next group?

Hormones affect everything. Have you ever struggled with acne, oily hair, dandruff, dry skin, cramps, headaches, irritability, exhaustion, constipation, irregular cycles, heavy bleeding, clotting, shedding hair, weight gain, anxiety, insomnia, infertility, lowered sex drive or bizarre food cravings and felt like your body was just irrational? It’s not; its hormonal. Yet women remain mystified at their bodies’ seemingly disconnected symptoms, never thinking that they are connected and hormonally based (pgs. 1-2).

I am not trying to optimize my fertility, but I am very aware of how hormone function is at the core of how each system in the body communicates with every other system. FLO Blockers are the endocrine disruptors. They include: “misinformation about your hormones”; “cultural conditioning”; “our toxic environment and lifestyle” and “our modern diet and the desire for quick-fix solutions to heal our bodies” (pgs. 33-36).

WomanCode then dives into very clear descriptions of the ebb and flow of our hormones throughout our cycle and also includes extensive recommendations for optimal foods and self-care practices to enhance each stage of a woman’s cycle. In addition to the book, there is also online education, coaching sessions and an app! Whether you are experiencing significant hormonal imbalance or you would like to optimize your body’s natural rhythm, WomanCode offers the tools to help you thrive!
